Are you teaching an undergraduate or graduate course that features work by a colleague outside the University of Iowa? Do you have a colleague from another discipline who could bring a thought-provoking cross-disciplinary perspective to an issue you’re addressing in your course? Or would you like to invite a practitioner or an expert from the public sector whose perspective would complement course readings?

The Obermann Center will provide a $150 honorarium to support virtual course visits. We welcome applications from faculty members (including lecturers and clinical faculty) who are teaching semester-long 3-credit hour courses that fulfill the requirement of a major in any college. The award is competitive and will be selected according to the following criteria:

1. The visitor will clearly bring an intriguing, thought-provoking new dimension to a well-thought-out course;
2. The instructor has an imaginative plan (not complicated, but engaging) for preparing students to derive real benefit from the course visit; and
3. The course fulfills a major requirement or graduate degree requirement in the instructor’s department.

We especially welcome applications that invite the voices of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Asian Pacific Islander and Desi American artists and scholars into class discussion.

Submit this online application by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
