Creativity in the Arts and Sciences: Contrasts in Disposition, Development, and Achievement

Join us as we explore the development of eminence, creativity, genius, and leadership with Dean Keith Simonton, an Ida Beam Distinguished Visiting Professor. Dr. Simonton will visit the UI campus October 30-November 1.

Dr. Simonton is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California-Davis. He describes his research as the "cognitive, dispositional, developmental, and sociocultural factors behind eminence, giftedness, and talent." His primary method is historiometry, or the statistical analysis of retrospective data concerning famous personalities and their accomplishments in the fields of science, philosophy, literature, music, art, cinema, politics, and war. 

Dr. Simonton himself is a fantastically talented and productive scholar with more than 450 publications. He has received numerous awards for the excellence of his scholarship.
