The use of gamification, the application of game elements in non-gaming situations, is wide-ranging in the business world and now in higher education. University Libraries has joined in the fun and will be implementing their own small badging program. Brittney Thomas, Learning Commons Coordinator at the University of Iowa, discusses the rewards, perils and pitfalls of gamification and the process of creating a badging program.
