The Future Is Female: Sarah Cahill in Concert
"The Future is Female" is an installation/performance and communal feminist immersive listening experience featuring more than 60 compositions by women around the globe, ranging from the 18th century to the present, including new commissioned works.
San Francisco Bay Area-based pianist and cultural animator Sarah Cahill will perform from 2:00-5:00 p.m. in the Voxman Commons. Audience members are invited to sit and listen for any length of time and to come and go as they please.
Featured composers include, Maria de Alvear, Galina Ustvolskaya, Ruth Crawford, Florence Price, Kui Dong, Meredith Monk, and many others.
The national project is in conjunction with the upcoming 100 year anniversary of women’s suffrage in the United States.
Hosted by the School of Music String Quartet Residency Program with support from the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies and Intermedia.
