Graduate Institute Informational Session
This meeting is for any UI graduate students who are interested in applying for The Obermann Graduate Institute and would like more information. This year's co-directors, Carolyn Colvin (Teaching & Learning) and Barbara Eckstein (English) and Senior Fellow Jake Kurczek (Neuroscience) will be on hand to talk about the program and answer questions.
The Graduate Institute is a one-week interdisciplinary seminar in which UI graduate students from across campus and at any point in their graduate studies explore how civic engagement can enhance teaching, research, and creative work. Participants discuss theories of engagement and meet with experts, including former Obermann Graduate Fellows, faculty members, UI administrators, and potential community partners. They also develop their own engaged projects, reconceiving their art, scholarship, and teaching to address community needs.
