Triangle Club Meeting with Carl H. Klaus—"In My Eighties: Tales of Aging"
The Triangle Club of Iowa City welcomes Carl H. Klaus, an essayist, diarist, and specialist in nonfiction writing. Klaus is Professor Emeritus in the Department of English and Founder of the UI Nonfiction Writing Program. His books on writing include The Made-Up Self: Impersonation in the Personal Essay and A Self Made of Words: Crafting a Distinctive Persona in Nonfiction Writing. His literary nonfiction includes My Vegetable Love: A Journal of a Growing Season, Weathering Winter: A Gardener's Daybook, Taking Retirement: A Beginner's Diary, and Letters to Kate: Life after Life—works that reflect on his life and marriage, on gardening and food, on work and retirement, and on his abiding concern with time, change, and mortality. His current work-in-progress is In My Eighties: Tales of Aging.
