Triangle Club Meeting with Tom Milligan — "The Art of Conversation, A Visit with Ding Darling, Renowned Cartoonist and Conservationist"
The Triangle Club is pleased to announce Tom Milligan as our guest speaker for November. His program will focus on Ding Darling, the legendary Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist for the Des Moines Register and founder of the National Wildlife Federation. Tom Milligan is a working theater artist, originally from Des Moines, who now resides in the Amana Colonies. Tom’s 45-year career has included acting, directing, and producing throughout Iowa and the Midwest. Tom is a Humanities Iowa speaker and works on multiple projects with The Old Creamery Theater and The Iowa Theater Artists Company. Tom has developed his unique one man play presentations, which remarkably combines his two passions, theater and history.
In 2016, Humanities Iowa partnered with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to invite Tom to write and perform a show about Ding Darling. The Art of Conservation: A Visit with Ding Darling is Milligan’s portrayal of Jay N. “Ding” Darling with the audience playing the part of an old friend sharing a visit with Ding. Milligan weaves history and theatrics to deliver an interactive experience highlighting Darling’s impressive life, whose contributions continue to enrich our lives today.
