The Triangle Club presents: The UI Public Policy Center: Academic Research and Public Engagement in Practice, by Pete Damiano
This presentation will discuss the activities of the University of Iowa Public Policy Center (UI PPC). The UI PPC is a research center located within the UI Office of the Vice President for Research with three primary functions: 1) conduct academic research primarily in six policy areas (health; housing and land use; human factors and vehicle safety; environmental; social science; transportation). 2) facilitate and stimulate research among other researchers on campus, and 3) engage policymakers and the public through the dissemination of research results and the sharing of other University resources.
Peter Damiano is the director of the University of Iowa Public Policy Center and is a Professor in the Department of Preventive & Community Dentistry. He is a health services researcher studying access, utilization, and quality of care. His funded studies are primarily in the areas of maternal and child health, health disparities and health care for underserved populations. He has authored over 100 journal articles and research monographs and been principal investigator on over 50 funded research studies. He continues to provide dental services to physically and mentally compromised patients in the University of Iowa’s Faculty Group Practice.
