The Triangle Club presents: Updates on the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies and our Partnership, by Teresa Mangum, and history of the Triangle Club, by Axel Ruprecht

Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:30am

Teresa Mangum is a professor in two departments at the University of Iowa: English and Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies.  She also directs the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies.  The Center supports  faculty members' research, brings faculty and graduate students from different fields work together to address the big issues that face us today, and connects the campus and larger community. In recent years, the Center has been honored to partner with the Triangle Club—another organization that encourages life-long learning and the exchange of ideas. You can find information about the partnership at She will share information about the current activities of the Obermann Center, upcoming public events, and the partnership with the Triangle Club.  She also looks forward to learning more about the interests of Triangle Club members and the ways the Center might contribute to the Club's success.

Axel, a professor in three departments, not one of which is History, at President Schaefer’s request, will give a brief review of the history of the Triangle Club for those who have wondered about it.
