Anne Duggan

Anne Duggan is an adjunct faculty member in the School of Journalism & Mass Communication where she teaches a magazine writing and reporting class to undergraduate majors. She recently retired as an editor at University of Iowa Health Care and previously worked as publications manager and editor in the UI Office of Health Science Relations. She edited her late husband Ken Cmiel’s book, A Home of Another Kind: One Chicago Orphanage and the Tangle of Child Welfare for a chapter in Home Away from Home: The Forgotten History of Orphanages, edited by Richard B. McKenzie (Encounter Books 2009). Duggan is a community advocate for bicycling and transportation alternatives. She is an incoming member of the Iowa City Bike Library board of directors and was previously a board member of Bicyclists of Iowa City and a volunteer at the Crisis Center of Johnson County. She has a degree in Latin American Studies from University of California, Berkeley, where, coincidentally, her father received his PhD in biochemistry and mother her bachelor’s degree.
