Cyndi Pederson has been the Deputy Executive Director at Salisbury House & Gardens since April of 2012. She focuses her work on advocating for the museum and developing strong relationships and ties to the impressive collections at Salisbury House. She has engaged a new Young Professional group that is bringing in a whole new generation of supporters to this cultural treasure. Prior to her position at Salisbury House, Cyndi spent 13 years in state government work. As the former Director of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs she was instrumental in raising the historic tax credit program from 20M to 50M, ensuring that many more historic properties would be preserved. She also implemented a newly designed initiative called Great Places. This was an economic development program based on the creative economy and helping communities with better planning and sustainability models. She also served as Chief of Staff to former First Lady Christie Vilsack, and served on Governor Vilsacks transition team. Cyndi has an Art Education degree from Iowa State University and a certificate from Drake University as a Certified Public Manager.
Cyndi gives back to her community by serving as President of the Young Women’s Resource Center, After School Arts Program, Arts Midwest, World Food Prize Ambassador, and Hero’s for the Homeless.
