Donna Sorensen's has evolved into her current role as a management consultant through an interesting and unique path. She was a twenty-eight year old single parent when she earned a B.A. in History and Pre-Law from Marycrest College in 1978 and a thirty-one year old single parent when she earn her Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa Law School in 1981.
Donna started her legal career as a trial attorney prosecuting criminals in the Criminal Division of the Linn County, Iowa County Attorney’s Office. After two years she made the unusual transition from criminal law to Trust & Investment Management where she earned her securities licenses and spent the next eighteen years in the financial services industry. During this time she held executive management positions throughout corporate mergers, acquisitions, consolidations, downsizings, and restructurings.
In 2000 Donna left the corporate world to teach at the University of Iowa College of Business and start her own consulting practice. Since that time she has consulted across a wide spectrum of industries including health care, engineering, higher education, government and non-profits helping them deal with a variety of organizational dynamics. Her expertise includes strategic planning, aligning organizational efforts to maximize effectiveness, and executive coaching.
