Jonathan Doorn is an associate professor with the Division of Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry in the College of Pharmacy. He received his Ph.D. in Toxicology at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor. As a 2014 Fall Obermann Fellow-in-Residence, Prof. Doorn used his time to advance his current research program by learning approaches and methods to study the role of non-neuronal cells in pesticide-mediated neurodegeneration. With this work, he seeks to identify causative agents and mechanisms for the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s, in hopes of identifying biomarkers for earlier diagnosis and targets for therapeutic intervention.
