Dr. Mary Adamek is a clinical professor of Music Therapy in the School of Music at The University of Iowa, and the Director of the Music Therapy Program. She is a specialist in the areas of music therapy in special education, inclusive music education, and music therapy clinical supervision. She co-authored Music in Special Education, published by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), and she has contributed to several textbooks and journals related to music therapy. She is currently involved in interdisciplinary research using music therapy with adolescents to manage post-operative pain. She is a past president of the American Music Therapy Association and the recipient of the 2011 AMTA Award of Merit.
