Pablo Garcia Loaeza's research focuses on colonial discourses in early modern Latin America in general, and Mexico in particular. Although he continues to be fascinated by the historiography of Don Fernando de Alva Ixlilxochitl, his current projects have to do with letters written in the sixteenth century from the Rio de la Plata, the different representations of the Toxcatl massacre at the Templo Mayor, and captivity stories and their links to national identity in Mexico.
