Ralph James Savarese

Ralph James Savarese is the author of Reasonable People: A Memoir of Autism and Adoption, which Newsweek called a “real life love story and an urgent manifesto for the rights of people with neurological differences.” The book was featured on NPR, CNN, ABC, IPR and many other media outlets. He is also the co-editor of a special issue of Disability Studies Quarterly titled “Autism and the Concept of Neurodiversity.” He spent the academic year 2012/2013 as a Humanities Writ Large fellow at Duke University’s Institute for Brain Sciences.
He teaches American literature, creative writing, and disability studies at Grinnell College.
