Newtown chronicles the aftermath of the deadliest mass shooting of school children in American history: a shooting that took the lives of 20 elementary school children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, on Dec. 14, 2012.
This award-winning documentary film will be screened for the first time in Iowa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at the Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City. Following the screening, a panel consisting of representatives of the UI Police, the UI Threat Assessment Team, and Iowa City Community School District will take part in a discussion of effective violence prevention strategies.
