2013 Iowa Humanities Festival

Collectors, Collections, and Collecting

Jim Leach, Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, joins scholars, museum directors, librarians, and personal collectors from across the state for the first Iowa Humanities Festival. “Collectors, Collections, and Collecting” is a daylong series of library tours, panel discussions, informal presentations, and conversations at the Salisbury House in Des Moines, Saturday March 9. Curated by the University of Iowa Obermann Center for Advanced Studies with support from the Office of the Vice President of Research, hosted by the Salisbury House and Gardens, and generously supported by Humanities Iowa, the Iowa Humanities Festival showcases the value of Iowa's colleges, universities, and cultural institutions. All are welcome. Tickets are available on the Salisbury House website. The $10.00 admission fee covers a light lunch and closing reception.

Many thanks to our co-sponsors: University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Graduate College, UI Libraries, and the UI Museum of Art; Drake University Center for the Humanities, Grinnell College's Center for Humanities and Faulconer Gallery; and the Des Moines Art Center and the Des Moines Public Library.
