Biography

Thalassa Raasch is a French-American artist, educator, and beekeeper based in Iowa and Maine. Photographs ground their work and are often accompanied by audio, projections, or other materials; their practice explores perceptual boundaries, translation and loss. Their research has included blind photography, traditional grave digging and closed-eye hallucinations. Their work has been exhibited and published nationally as well as internationally. Raasch holds a BA in Visual and Environmental Studies from Harvard University (2010) and a Masters in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design (2016). She has previously taught at Colby College, the Maine College of Art and Design, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
