Crossing Borders, a community storytelling project, crossingborders.us (link no longer active), started by Obermann Graduate Institute Fellows Raquel Baker (English, CLAS), Ted Gutsche (Journalism, CLAS), and Daniel Kinney (Art Education, College of Education), will host this month's Was The Word. This is Working Group Theatre's monthly storytelling, poetry, and music show at the Englert Theatre, with benefits going to hosting a local non-profit each month.  This month's performances center around the theme of "Crossing the Line." Admission is pay-what-you-can at the door. A portion of all the proceeds will go to Crossing Borders, a community storytelling website that deals with stories about race, segregation, and everyday life in Iowa City. The show will not only feature stories and poems from performers, but will give the stage to students from the Broadway Community Center, whose recent work with crossingborders.us examining issues of busing in Iowa City was featured in the Press Citizen
