The symposium event will take place on the ground floor of the building in MERGE's "living room," so no stair climbing is required. The front door of the building, facing the ped mall, is handicap accessible. 

MERGE parking

Street Parking: Short-term meters (1-2 hours) are concentrated in the core of the downtown and available along S. Linn Street and E. College Street. Downtown parking meters accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) and coins, as well as the mobile parking payment app, ParkMobile. Meters are enforced Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Parking Garages: Use of parking ramps in Iowa City is encouraged for both short- and longer-term uses.

Dubuque Street ramp is located at 220 S. Dubuque Street. First hour free, $1 per hour for each additional hour.

Chauncey Swan ramp (ungated) is located 415 E. Washington Street. This is an unattended, automated pay ramp – $0.75 per hour. Immediately after parking, observe space number painted on stall. Proceed to pay station (located in stairwells) and pay in advance.

Bus: Two bus stops are located nearby on Washington Street & Linn Street and Burlington Street & Dubuque Street.

Bike: There are 6 bike wall racks available inside of MERGE.

The symposium event will take place in the first floor lobby. The museum has accessible entrances on the first floor and via the parking garage. Two elevators are available, one providing access to our galleries, the other connecting the lobby to the parking garage below. We have two wheelchairs available to borrow, located next to the storage lockers in the coat room. Visitors can also request assistance from a welcome desk host.

UI Stanley Museum of Art parking

Paid, accessible parking is available in the Stanley Art Ramp below the museum. Enter from Museum Drive (formerly Front Street) at the rear of the building and access the museum directly via the elevator lobby in the center. Please pay for parking upon arrival. Note that parking is limited to two hours during enforcement hours. Parking time cannot be extended beyond the two-hour maximum. For questions or extended parking needs, contact UI Parking & Transportation at 319-335-1475.

Guests without a Persons with Disabilities Parking Permit, or those using rideshare, taxis, or chauffeur services, can be dropped off at the base of the front ramp along the south entrance of the UI Main Library.
