Obermann Center for Advanced Studies

The UI’s Obermann Center for Advanced Studies serves the research mission of the University of Iowa. The Center is a convening space dedicated to debate and discovery. Its grants for University of Iowa artists and researchers support imaginative collaborations and multi-disciplinary exploration. Its programming connects scholars across campus and engages the larger public in the ambitious, illuminating, and transformative work of the artists and scholars it serves.

The purpose of the annual Obermann Symposium is to explore an important topic that highlights UI scholars and scholarship and includes both UI and visiting participants.

The Institute for International Business (IIB) is a partnership between the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center and the Tippie College of Business. IIB is dedicated to advancing knowledge and international skills in business and educational communities. In addition, IIB works to promote entrepreneurship as a tool to empower people in developing countries and frontier markets while also providing Iowa students with cross-cultural and international business skills. College of Public Health

The Prevention Research Center for Rural Health (PRC-RH) promotes the health of the residents of micropolitan and other rural communities in Iowa through a variety of Center activities and resources. The Center conducts research to develop strategies that work and can bring long-term benefits to rural and micropolitan communities, as well as offers training and technical assistance to the public health community. Its researchers have expertise in community-based participatory research, social determinants of health and health inequity, training for workforce development, intervention design and implementation, and communication, dissemination, and translation. The PRC-RH is part of a network of 20 academic research centers funded by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and is the only funded Prevention Research Center (PRC) in the Midwest with an exclusive rural health focus.

A premier research library, the University of Iowa Law Library has one of the most comprehensive collections of all academic law libraries in the United States. The only law library among the Iowa Board of Regents' universities, the University of Iowa Law Library is an important resource for not only members of the University of Iowa community, but also for researchers and citizens throughout Iowa.

Staff members at the University of Iowa Law Library curate, care for, and make the Law Library's information resources available for use. Librarians with law degrees and graduate degrees in library and information science educate students, assist faculty members with research, and help members of the public identify and navigate legal resources.

Since 1882, the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics has been a leader in patient care, dental education, and oral science research, and as the only dental school in the State of Iowa, it is a source of great strength and pride for the state. As an essential part of the University of Iowa academic health campus, its dental clinics have more than 170,000 patients visits per year. The college also has 26 community programs focused on children, patients with special needs, and seniors, including an award-winning Geriatrics Mobile Dental Unit. The College's educational curriculum has been instrumental in educating excellent dentists and specialists across Iowa and the world, as 78% of Iowa dentists are graduates of the college.
